Bierstadt on View at Denver Art Museum
A previously uncatalogued painting by the 19th-century landscape artist Albert Bierstadt that had been given to the Colorado School of Mines in 1938 is part of a new exhibition at the Denver Art Museum. "The beauty of Bierstadt should be enjoyed by more people, and we are very pleased that the museum will provide that opportunity," observed Mines' president Bill Scoggins. Thomas Smith, the Petrie Institute's director, added: "To be able to display works like Bierstadt's magnificent view of the Yosemite Valley helps people (further) understand the Western experience."
